My last name is Joyce. My first camp name was smiley. Growing up I had my antennas attuned to everything about Joy. When people talked of visiting Quebec, they would always mention the joie de vivre. Later as a design strategist, joie de vivre regularly stood out as an important cultural factor of the Quebec persona.
So here’s my question: what constitutes Quebec’s joie de vivre?
If we could list and explore the cultural foundation of this approach to living what would we learn? What habits could someone try to embrace their own joie de vivre?
On the flipside, social media has enabled people to share their stories and yet this outward communication hasn’t generated inward joy. Are we living our joyous moments to post them afterwards or to feel them in the moment? I could argue that just thinking about how to post a moment changes the moments itself.
I hear Joyce everyday. Could you imagine a better name!
